The first[?] of nine children born to John Sr and Ruth (Gaither) Warfield of Warfields Plains plantation in Anne Arundel Co MD, Richard married:
1) Marian Caldwell in 1720 in Anne Arundel Co MD; she died before 1726 in Anne Arundel Co MD. 2) Sarah Gambrill in 1726 in Anne Arundel Co MD.
Children with Marian:
1) John Warfield (1722-1763), m: Elizabeth Dorsey. 2) Seth Warfield (1723-1805), m: Mary Gaither, his 2C. 3) Richard Warfield Jr (c1724-1789), m: Hamutal Marriott. 4) Luke Warfield (c1726-1780), left no issue.
Children with Sarah: 1) Joseph Warfield (1727-1787), never married. 2) Rachel Warfield (1729-c1786), m: Philip Turner.

The Warfield family had been one of consequence in England from the time of the Norman Conquest. Pagen de Warfield, a Norman gentleman of the retinue of William the Conqueror, won a knight's fee and the estate of "Warfield Walk', at the battle of Hastings, 1066, in consideration of his services to the king on that eventful occasion.
