Robert Ball was born on 1 April 1802.1 He was the son of Bob Stawell Ball and Mary Green.1,2 He married Amelia Gresley Hellicar, daughter of Thomas Hellicar and Catherine Gresley, on 21 September 1837.2 He died on 30 March 1857 at age 54.1
