About Robert Cochran
Came from County Derry in Ireland in 1804 with his three brothers. It is also listed in a different source that he and his brothers were from County Donegal, Ireland.
The family first settled at Gribben, seven miles from Londonderry, when they came to Ireland from Scotland in 1570, but the father, John of Fernois, who had been employed by the Lord of Strabane, in the Salmon Fisheries, was apprehended for debt and his sons, Hugh and James, having rescued him, were all obliged to leave. They went to the foot of Foughen waters where they were protected by Lord O'Kane who employed them in their former business.
He married Catherine Risher in Baltimore, MD. They relocated to Westmoreland County, PA.
He was a miller and died at Crawford's Mill, near Vandergrift and Apollo, PA.
