About Rose (Ruchel) Trachtenberg
Arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia from Rotterdam on September 2, 1910 on the SS Uranium and then traveled to Toronto to be with her brother.
Immigrated with Tillie to NY through Buffalo on Sept 19, 1919. Rose was naturalized on June 1, 1942 in New York.
Rose's graddaughter Eleanor Wachs related, "The story was that Rose hated Toronto and felt that after living in Odessa, a cosmopolitan city for Jews, Toronto was a back water and not sophisticated enough so they moved to New York--the Bronx-- and lived for many years on Vyse Avenue."
