Katharine Newbury Manierre wrote (1905-06) that "Samuel Partridge removed from Hartford to Hatfield in 1687. He had 8 children (Edward was the 7th). He was representative in 1685-6. Colonel of his Regiment, Judge of Probate, one of His Majesty's Council and after death of Col. Pynchon, 1703, 'the most important man in the western part of the province.' "
