Samuel Walker received his first license “to still strong waters & to retale the same” in Woburn from the County Court in April, 1662, this license being renewed in 1663 and probably later. In April, 1674, he was licensed to “keep ordinary,” making him the third innholder at Woburn. He became a freeman in 1674, was a selectman in 1679 and repeatedly afterwards. He was a member of the Convention of the Colony which met in Boston in 1689 upon the deposition of Andros, and after the establishment of the government under the Provincial Charter of 1691 he represented Woburn in the General Court of 1694. In 1692 he was chosen a deacon of the Woburn church and held that position until his death. He was a Corporal from 1683 to 1684, Sergeant to 1690 and Ensign, 1690-1692.
