About Sgt. Clarence Lloyd Kelly, RNZAF
"Spitfire pilot Clarence Lloyd Kelly was killed in action during World War II on 8 August 1942 whilst defending Malta from an incoming raid. He was 21 years old and the favourite nephew of my grandfather, Walter George Kelly. A hand-coloured photograph of Lloyd hung in the lounge of my grandparent’s home at Matamata in the Waikato and now hangs on my wall. Each year I add my ANZAC Day poppy to the frame.
