Biography

Sir David de Lindsay of Brenevil was born 1205 in Crawford, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and died after 10 May 1255. He was the son of William de Lindsay.1 (ancestors of the Earls of Lindsay and Crawford) and an unknown woman.

In 1233 he had a charter of the Byres from Gilbert, Earl of Pembroke.1 He held the office of Justiciary [Scotland] between 1243 and 1249.1 In 1244 he had a charter of Chirden in Tyndale from Margaret, Countess of Pembroke.1

David married Margaret de CRAWFORD on 1226 in Crawford, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was born 1208 in Crawford, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the daughter of Sir John de CRAWFORD Knight d. 1248). [TSP does not show this marriage.]
