Biographical Summary
"Captain Thomas Dalziell [or Dalyell], of Binns, co. Linlithgow, s. and h. of Gen. Thomas Dalyell, of the same, a distinguished cavalier, held a command at the battle of Worcester, and who, after the Restoration, was Commander in Chief of the forces in Scotland, by Agnes, da. of John Ker, of Cavers, was a Capt. in the army; suc. his father 1 Oct. 1685, on account of whose services, apparently, he was, a month later, cr. a Baronet [S.], 7 Nov. 1685, as above "provydit to his eldest son and heirs male and tailzie succeiding him in estate of Binns". He m. Katharine, da. of Sir William Drummond, of Riccaton, by Magdalen, da. of Thomas Dalyell, of Binns."
