Biographical Summary
"William Tufton, Esq. of Vintners [in the parish of Boxley], co Kent, younger brother of Sir Humphrey Tufton, 1st Baronet [1644] of Mote, co Kent, being 5th son of Sir John Tufton, 1st Baronet [1611], of Hothfield, by his 2nd wife Christian, daughter and coheir of Sir Humphrey Brown, was created a Baronet [I], by patent dated 18 January 1622/3, at Dublin, the Privy Seal being dated 30 December 1622. He was Governor of Barbados. He married 30 January 1620/1, at Greenwich, Ann, daughter of Cecil Cave, of co Leicester. She died 1649, and was buried at Foot's Cray, Kent. Her burial registered 2 April 1649, at Greenwich. He died at Barbados, 1650."
