About Thomas Gilbert
Married Joan Rossiter, daughter of Hugh Rossiter on 23 March 1639. This was the first marriage in Taunton, Massachusetts. Hugh Rossiter is the ancestor of the Connecticut Rossitors.
Thomas was a freeman in 1643, Deputy from Taunton in 1651. He went to England in 1653 and never returned. He died in England in 1676.
His will "from beyond the seas" mentions his son Thomas and his daughters Mary Williams, wife of Samuel Williams, and Elizabeth Starr.
