About Thomas Lee
Birth: 1728 Hempstead (Nassau County) Nassau County New York, USA Death: Jan. 18, 1805 Littleton Morris County New Jersey, USA
In 1757 Thomas Lee fell heir to a small estate on Staten Island. He afterward bought a two hundred acre estate is Westchester County, N.Y. Disposing of this estate in 1764, Thomas moved with his family into New Jersey and purchased a 200 acre estate which he called "Cortland Manor" and which adjoined that of his brother, John. The two estates were situated about midway between what is now know as Morris Plains, N.J. and Somerville, the latter being then known as Somerset Court House. After the close of the Revolution Thomas moved to Morris Plains, where he resided several years. Later he went to live with his son Major William Lee, in Morristown, at whose home he died January 18, 1805.
Thomas Lee was married to Dinah Perrine. He served as a private and teamster in the Somerset County (NJ) militia during the Revolutionary War.
