About Wilhelm Kantor

Lived at Nibelungengasse 3 in Vienna in 1891. (Lehmann's address books online)

Presumably the same Wilhelm Kantor who was one of the 25 Jews who signed a contract on 9 April 1852, purchasing a piece of land for the establishment of a synagogue in Podebrady. Other Kantors also appear to have been involved in Jewish matters in the town:

- Simon Kantor purchased land adjacent to the synagogue in order to establish an apartment for the rabbi and Jewish schools.

- Solomon Kantor had originally purchased for his son Abraham the property that would be sold to build the synagogue on.

- Aron Ludwig Kantor was chairman of the Jewish community and appears to have been involved in the establishment of a private Jewish school with German as the language of instruction in 1872.
