He made a will at Isle of Wight Co., Virginia, on 19 Jun 1731.

In the name of God Amen. I, William Boykin being very sick andweak of body but of perfect mind and memory, praise be therefore given to AlmightyGod, do ordain this my present and last Will and Testament andin manner and form following: (that is to say) First and principally I commend my Soul into the hands ofAlmighty God. Hoping thro merits death and passion of my Saviour Jesus H C to have fulland free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body to be decentlyburied at the discretion of my Exec. hereafter named. Astouching the dispositon of all such Temporal Estate as it hathpleased Almighty God to Bestow upon me I give and dispose asfolloweth, first I Will that all my Debts and funeral Charges be paid and discharged. Item: I give unto my loving wife Margaret Boykin the use of thePlantation whereon I now live and all the lands thereunto belonging beginning at theMouth of the Cattail Branch and so up Tuckers Swamp to theSfourth Branch which said Branch being the first Branch belowthe Plantation I bought of Thomas Boykin and so up the saidBranch to the line quantity in all about one hundred and twenty acres during herNatural life and after her death I give the same to my son Simon Boykin and his Heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son William Boykin the twohundred and forty acres of land at Roanoak that I bought of James Spears to him my said sonWilliam Boykin and his Heirs forever. Item. I give to my son William Boykin seven cows and eightHeifers out of my part of the Stock--that John Bruce has atfishing Creek to raise at halves to him my said son WilliamBoykin and his Heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Boykin the Plantationand the land I bought of my Brother Thomas Boykin, beginning at a Branch below thePlantation and so up the Swamp to the Second Branch above thePlantation and so up the said Branch till it winds off, and thenstraight to the Line; quantity in all about one hundred andforty acres to him my said son John Boykin and his Heirsforever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Boykin all my landsin the fork of Tuckers Swamp also a Patent for one hundred eighty acres of landwhere John Phillips formerly lived to him my said son ThomasBoykin and his Heirs forever. Item. I give unto my Daughter Martha Boykin Twenty PoundsCurrent and Money to her my Daughter and her Heirs forever. Item. I give unto my loving wife Margaret Boykin the use of myNegro Man named George during her natural life or widowhood and after her deathor marriage I give the said Negro George to my son Simon Boykinand his Heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my sons William, John, Thomas andSimon Boykin five hundred acres of land in my patent at FishingCreek in North Carolina to be equally divided to them my sons William, John, Thomas and Simon Boykin and theirHeirs forever. Item. All the rest and residue of my Good Chattels and personalEstate whatsoever I give to my loving wife Margaret Boykin my sons William Boykin, JohnBoykin, Thomas Boykin, Simon Boykin and my daughter MarthaBoykin to be equally divided to them my wife Margaret my sonsWilliam, John, Thomas, Simon and my daughter Martha and theirHeirs forever and I do constitute and ordain my loving wifeMargaret Boykin my whole and sole Executrix of this my last Willand Testament Revoking Disannulling and making Void all other Wills and Testament heretofore made by me. Son of Edward and Ann (née Gwaltney) Boykin

William was twice married:

First to Miss Burwell in about 1703; with whom he had two known children:

  1. John (1704-1795)
  2. William, Jr. (1710-1761) [Further information about Miss Burwell Boykin is not unknown by family researchers.]

Second marriage in about 1720, William was married to Margaret Vicars (Vickers), daughter of Ralph and Jane Vicars, in Isle of Wright, Virginia.

William and Margaret Boykin had the following known children:

  1. Simon (1724-1788)
  2. Martha (1726-1794)
  3. Thomas (1732-1791)

At the time of William Boykin's death, in his Last Will & Testament signed 19th day of June 1731, he mentions the above children and makes bequest to his beloved wife, Margaret. His estate was probated over a year later in a court held in Isle of Wright County, Virginia on September 25th 1732.
