About William Henry Dean of Dorchester and Maryland
DEAN William Henry; ENG>MD,USA; 1600-1700
DEAN
Searching for descendants of William Henry Dean who was the owner and master of his own ship "Betty." He came from England to St. Mary's Maryland sometime before 1639. He was married to Elizabeth DAMPIER, who probably never came to America as he was engaged in coastal shipping and may have returned to England on many occasions. He never owned land and eventually returned to England permanently. Tradition has it that he was the father of fourteen children of whom only four are known to have come to America. Two of his sons who did not come were ship builders in the service of the British government. The sons who came to America were: Thomas, James, John and William.
