About wife of Thomas More, "the younger"

Comments

August 2014 From Geni member Martin Wood

The marriage of Thomas More III to Martha Brooks and Martha Brooks' descent from Robert Brooke should be among the spurious pedigrees.

We know from his older brother's will that Thomas More III married

but the name of his wife has never been recorded.

We also know that they had three children: Cyprian, Thomas, and Constantine.

Thomas III abandoned the faith of his ancestors and became a Vicar in the Church of England. Two of his children, Constantine and Thomas, were born at Mitcham, Surrey, while he was Vicar of the Parish Church there. We do not know where Constantine was born.

Thomas III DID NOT have a daughter Margaret, said by some to have married a Henry Neave. Some family pages on other internet genealogy sites say that Margaret Neave (born More) was the daughter of Thomas More II, Thomas III's older brother, but that is also a spurious claim.

We know from the will of his older brother that Thomas III had died before 1606, but exactly when and where he died is not recorded.

We know from Cresacre More (Thomas More III's uncle) that, in 1616, the only child surviving was Cyprian.
