HOREPNIK: Pelhřimov, Vysočina PDF Print E-mail Hořepník, 49°31' N 15°06' E, 48.6 miles SE of Praha. Horschepnik, Horzepnik, Härtling [Germ] is a municipality 5 km from west of Cervena Řečice. Hořepník is located on the left bank of the river in the Trnávka Želivská pahorkatina, part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Jewish Cemetery is west of Vítovice to the SE. website in Czech with photo: landmarked and freely accessible. "The cemetery is located on ulici V Palestině , 300 meters SW of the square on the south bank of the river in the district of Trnava called Úlehle. Founded in the early 17th century, written records first document it in 1636. Expanded several times (last in the second half of the 19th century) and lasting until the beginning of WWII. The area has 228 tombstones visible from 1649 to the early 1940s. The diverse terrain of the 1716 m2 suggests that burials may be in layers. The last burial took place in 1941, last inscription carved after WWII in memory of Clara Teller, who died in 1944 in Theresienstadt. In 1869 a simple mortuary was built , whose roof had been covered with shingles and reconstructed from 2003 to 2004. This is a very valuable cemetery with many Baroque and Classicist tombstones has ongoing maintenance, but completion of the repair ceremonial hall (interior plaster) and restoration of valuable historical tombstones needs to be done."
