"DNA test results reveal or rule out biological relationships. Documentary genealogical research provides the information needed to specify the kinship link. "

This project is to document the known DNA information about the various Lee families of Virginia. The idea here is to illustrate that it is useful to collaborate the paper trail with the actual DNA of known descendants. Ideally this will be done via several case studies.

National Genealogical Society 4th Quarter 2011 Article by Judy Keller, CG "Documents and DNA Identify A Little Known Lee Family Of Virginia"

This article is about Charles Lee, circa mid-1700's, of Orange County, Virginia.

This shows that the Lee's in central Virginia all descend from a William Lee (Of Ulster).

The article provides both the DNA matching (three separate male lines for eight generations with no change or mutations) that was used as well as the documentation evidence that proves the connections. There is no room for doubt that all of the men tested are R1B Haplotype and they are descendants of Charles Lee of Orange County, Virginia. Furthermore, Charles Lee of Orange, VA was the son of William Lee of Ulster.
