Poisson Family

Introduction

This project aims at mapping out the full family tree of the South African Poisson family, and then hopefully tracing the routes back to Maritius, Reunion Island and finally to France. There is an extensive Poisson family tree built extending back to 1600's in France, with notable Poisson's such as Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, also known as Madame de Pompadour. Unfortunately, this French family tree does not extend to the family members who left France for the French colonies and eventually South Africa. Thus, this group has the following goals:

  1. Map out the current, living members of the Poisson family from South Africa.
  2. Trace the current members back to the first records of Poissons in South Africa (1888)
  3. Trace the South African family routes back to France
  4. Finally merge the South African family tree into the primary Poisson family tree
