Looking for help in finding relatives related to my father from Nasielsk, Poland. My father is the sole survivor of his immediate family. Their last name was Tuchendler. The family business was Skalka Textiles. Skalka was the maiden name of my father's mother Hawa Tuchendler nee Skalka. There seem to be no birth records or business records available on line for any of the family members. If you can help with developing this part of the family tree. As far as I know the family came from the villages of Poltusk, Nasielsk, Nowy Dwor. My father had two brothers: Avram and Nussen Dawid.. My father's grandmother's name was Dworja Skalka nee Frydman.
Have you used the JewishGen town finder to find the name of the town over the years as well as the All Poland JRI datbase?

Debra Ann Chandler Yad Vashem may also be a good resource for you assuming by sole survivor you mean from the Holocaust....

Of course the holocaust was the biggest theft in history and many records were destroyed of prior owners. however,
I did a little searching i did on some databases of property owned in that area by Tuchlendler's:

Debra, I too am looking for a relative from Nasielsk with the surname MARGULIES. There are some big gaps for nasielsk. Below are some excerpts from my conversation with Stanley Diamond from JRI-Poland
SD: There are no surviving Jewish records of Nasielsk from
1826-1874.
We have now indexed the following types/years that are not
yet online:
Births: 1904-1909
Marriages: 1904-1905
Deaths: 1904-1905
However, within the next 3 weeks, we should have ALL indices
for Nasielsk up to 1911!
SD: Absolutely but we have not been able to find a volunteer to
index the Jewish Records in the following 5 Nasielsk films:
Akta urodzeń, zgonów, małżeństw 1808-1809 Akta urodzeń 1809-1810 Film 1496781 Items 3-4
Akta urodzeń, zgonów, małżeństw 1809-1813 Akta urodzeń, zgonów 1814 Film 1496782
Akta zgonów, małżeństw 1813-1814 Akta urodzeń, małżeństw, zgonów 1814-1815, 1819-1821 Akta urodzeń 1821-1822 Film 1496783
Akta urodzeń, małżeństw, zgonów 1821-1823 Film 1496784
Akta małżeństw 1823 Akta urodzeń, małżeństw, zgonów 1824-1825 Film 1496785 Items 1-3
SD: But there is more good news. Last month, when the opportunity
presented itself, we arranged to photograph all the surviving
Nasielsk marriage Alegata files (all pages0 up to 1902. The
years are: 1874,1876-1877, 1879-1882, 1898, 1901-1902
As you likely are aware, the Alegata files contain the birth
records for most marriage partners, particularly those for
men from another town.
We haven't figured out how to pay for the work or how to arrange
arrange extracting of these records."
I made a donation to help start on this work. Not sure how far they will get and when. But maybe some of this info will help you.
Dear Debra;
My father's family was Sokolka. This is very close to your grandmother's maiden name.
Please follow the link below to the Sokolka family on my family web page:

Let me know if you can or can't find a connection.
Judy Goldberg
Dear Judy,
Thank you so much for sharing your family history with me. My father sent a DNA sample to the Geni website to find others that might have shared his DNA. They discovered relatives (without revealing names) in France, England, Russia, Israel and the USA. Perhaps the name might have been spelled differently I am not sure. The first names of my father's relatives were repeated many times through out the generations, Moshe, Avram, David, Chawa, Devorja, Nussen Dawid.
Let's keep the dialogue going. We are from Detroit , Michigan where are you from?
Hi judith - we are 32nd cousins - thru Yosef ben Shlomo ibn ʿAwkal, Nasi, al-Romi
Yosef ben Hizkiya ibn ʿAwkal, Nasi, Nagid of Fustat and Rome is your 30th great grandfather.
i have researched my own genie for about 38 + years
- i know my genie is correct for those 32 generations
from my parent, grandparent thru the great grandparents
up to his level #30 & beyond
(and, it is NOT broken or mythical)
- if judith goldberg's tree is accurate
we(meaning, judith and myself) would be 32nd cousins
