Well, Anne Standish has probably got the wrong maiden name (Clifton).

From the 4 references for Sir Cuthbert Halsall, MP , Anne & Henry Halsall do not seem to be Cuthbert's parents.

On his death-bed he gave this advice to his son, "Let the underwood grow ; the tenants are the support of the family, and the commonality are the strength of a kingdom. Improve this fairly; but force not violently either your bounds or your rents above your fathers. He died 1548 and was buried at Sefton Church, where there is a monument and a eulogistic Latin inscription to his memory. Knighted at Flodden Field in 1513 and given a tiger passant proper on a crown or, for his crest.

Sir William Molyneux (1483-1548), son of Sir Thomas, by his wife Anne, daughter and coheir of Sir Thomas Dutton, led a considerable force to serve in 1513 under his cousin Sir Edward Stanley at Flodden Field, where he took with his own hands two Scottish banners and the Earl of Huntly's arms; for this service he was personally thanked in a letter by Henry VIII. He joined Derby's Salley expedition in 1536 (GAIRDNER, Letters and Papers, ii. 1251), and died in 1548, aged 65, being buried in Sefton Church, where there is a monument and eulogistic Latin inscription to his memory. He was twice married, and his son Richard by his first wife, Jane, only daughter and heir of Richard Rydge or Rugge of Ridge, Shropshire, was knighted at Mary's accession in 1553, served as sheriff of Lancashire in 1566, and died in 1569. He was the second son of Robert Hesketh of Rufford Esq. and of Alice his wife, daughter of Sir Robert Booth of Dunham Massey Knt. and niece in half blood of Lawrence Booth, Archbishop of York and Lord Chancellor, whose birth was not obscure, and whose merits were various. See Campbell's Lives of Lord Chancellors, vol. i. p. 389. Baines states (vol. iii. p. 427) that the Hesketh pedigree has been 'evidently drawn up with great care," and yet implies that Richard Hesketh's mother was not Alice Booth, (p. 426,) an altogether unwarranted implication. Nor is this the only erroneous statement in the pedigree, Richard Hesketh being there recorded as the husband of Grace, daughter of John Towneley of Towneley, whereas he married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Cuthburt Clifton of Clifton Esq. by his wife Alice, daughter and coheiress of Sir John Lawrence of Ashton Hall near Lancaster Knt. In 1506 he was engaged in the great suit respecting the will and subsequent proceedngs of the feoffees of Warden Huntington of Manchester College, (Not. Cestr. vol. ii. part i. p. 60,) and he was apponted an executor of the will of Thomas first Earl of Derby K.G. dated July 28th and proved November 9th 1504, being therein styled "a trusty servant" of that potent nobleman. His official connection with the Derby family also led to his appointment as an executor of the will of Thomas the second Earl, who died 23rd May 1521, along with his brothers Thomas Hesketh, of Rufford Esq., Hugh Hesketh, Bishop of Man, and others, who are called the Earl's "trusty friends," Cardinal Wolsey, the Lord Chancellor, and Hugh Oldham, Bishop of Exeter, being amongst the supervisors of the will — Testamenta Vetusta, vol. ii. pp. 460, 590. The arms quartered by Molyneux in this Visitation are those of Dutton, brought in by the marriage of Sir Thomas Molyneux, father of Sir William, the first in this pedigree, with Anne, daughter and one of the heirs of Sir Thomas Dutton of Dutton, in the county of Chester.
This family represents two other lines of foreign blood, Gernet and Villers, all three located in Lancashire at, or soon after, the Norman Conquest.
William des Molines is said to have taken his title from a town of the Bourbonnois in France, and to have been originally seated at Ceffton [Sefton], from which the family take the title now borne by them as earls in the peerage of Ireland, created in 1771, and of barons of the United Kingdom, created in 1831.
The first hereditary titular distinction conferred on this family was a baronetcy in 1611, followed by the creation of Viscount Molineux of Maryborough, in the peerage of Ireland, in the person of Sir Richard Molineux in 1628.

The seventh and eighth quarters, viz., Clyfton, sable, on a bend argent, three mullets gules, and Lawrence, argent, a cross raguly gules, came in through the marriage of Henry, son of Thomas Halsall, with Anne, daughter to Sir William Molyneux, by his second wife, Elizabeth, daughter and coheiress of Cuthbert Clyfton of Clyfton, whose wife was the heiress of Sir John Lawrence. Hi, Elizabeth Clifton born 1503. The info I have gathered in the last few days points to the fact that the geni tree around her is wrong. She had two sons the first died very young and Thomas the second died without issue. Elizabeth's grandchild who inherited her estate was Sir Cuthbert Halsall the son of Elizabeth's daughter Anne who married Henry Halsall.

There are several references which have the lineage of Anne (Halsall) Clifton.
I have not been able to find any published references that tells which Cuthbert Halsall was the father of Ann (Halsall) Hesketh.

Can Geoff. Baines please give us some references to show which Cuthbert Halsall is the father of Anne Hesketh

Impossible for Anne/Ann Halsall to have been married to both men, the last child with Sir Thomas Clifton was born c. 1646. Thomas died 1657, and Anne in 1675, time for her to have married a 2nd time, but Bartholomew Hesketh & his wife had at least 3 children, one being born c. 1641 and he seems to have had a 2nd wife Alice Pilkington by which he had no issue.

Hi, Anne Halsall's father is Sir Cuthbert Halsall Of Clifton & Halsall. I will add a source in the profile page of Sir Cuthbert Halsall copied from a book called The Clifton Chronicle.

Please it was impossible that Anne Halsall to have married both Thomas Clifton & Bartholomew Hesketh.

I have unmerged the Anne Halsall's.

William Molyneux, of Sefton needed his data conflicts resolved his birth date is in question, I have not seen it listed as an exact date just before before 1544, so I have edited this. He is listed as the son of Sir Richard Molyneux, Sheriff of Lancaster and Eleanor Radcliffe in several references.

I will see if I can find information for Alice Prescott & James Prescott , his dates do not look to good as is, stated lived to be (120-128), I don't think so.

There is a Alice listed as Sir Richard Molyneux, Sheriff of Lancaster and Eleanor Radcliffe daughter, but her dates are b. 1531 - d. 11 May 1581 and she would be the other Alice Prescott

The James Prescott's have different parents listed so would not be the same person.

I think they have gotten the line confused and James Prescott has got the wrong death date, as father of William Prescott, III the few possibly unrealiable references do not mention James Prescott's wife. James' death date should be removed I have not seen it listed

The About section for William Prescott, III has William married to Alice Molineaux b. circa 1485, d. Aug 27, 1538 , ANCESTRAL FILE NUMBER 9N3P-G9 this information is from a personal ancestral file https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:1:M4WX-QMJ, and does not list the wife Alice as Molineaux (it may have at one time), there are plenty other ancestral files for William.

I would not use a ancestral file as a reference.

Anne Standish is referred to in several pedigrees

I would love to validate this however on the Standish side if anyone can help.

I'm cleaning up the area & adding more references -- undo merge "was" needed to separate the two Anne's & we never quite finished up last year.

Hi Erica, In the Will of the widow Anne Halsall she talks about the Stanley & Halsall relations but no mention of any Standish. The very large files I have tried to send don't seem to be excepted by GENI. The main one is called The House of Standish - the French Connection. Maybe you could look yourself for it on the internet. The other one is called The Standish Family of Ireland. They have been produced by a American Standish Family. I have now enclosed it in a ZIP file if that is any good to you and you can tell me how to get it to you. Original size 46 MB and a HTML file. Well worth the time it takes to look at them.
