I would guess that Groot Emanuel and his partner ("neger") might well be part of a later wave of slaves coming after the original group. It is nonetheless an interest testament that a mother in a church document would be referred to simply by a racial designation.

Here's puzzle #2:
1646 Feb 18; Anthony Portugies

Does this name the father Anthony Fernando Portugis, (Gratia d'Angola) with no mention of a child. The tree shows he had many children.

Maybe Puzzle #2 is solved by a baptism just a few days later...
