Another source for this High King.

What is known of the structure of the community and lands where he ruled?

Living 77 years was no small feat.

His successors eventually emigrated to Wales. Why?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I had inherited this profile but hadn't really looked at it.

He didn't live that long.

There are a couple of things going on; one is that our information for this period comes from a few different Irish sources, which often contain contradictions. The other is that we don't know his birth date -- the Irish Annals seldom give that information. They give the date that the reign ended -- in this case, because he was killed.

I have taken out the birth date, and changed the death date to reflect the information given in the Annals of the Four Masters.

The source that you found, by the way, is from an English translation of Keating's Foras Feasa ar Éirinn, from 1634.

It is a great deal of fun, indeed.

It's specialized study, in the early tree -- the sources are all vexed in one way or another; the sources usually contradict each other; things are available to current users in translations or editions that are sometimes also vexed.

We always have to think about who wrote the sources, when, why, and for what audience.
