Esther arrived in Halifax aboard the SS Mount Clay on May 9, 1925. She was the first of her nuclear family to arrive in Canada followed by her younger sister Shlima in 1927 and her mother and youngest sister in 1929. The immigration document lists her age as 18 so she was born ca.1907 although the family has her year of birth as 1911. The immigration document lists her citizenship as Russian so I think that she may have been born in Skvira, Ukraine rather than in Kishinev, Bessarabia (later Roumania).
