Right off, there is a problem with the ages, Nellie "Leaf" is shown as older than her father. The link in her profile shows documentation of her being "wife" of Dragging Canoe.

Nellie 'Leaf' Ugalogv Pathkiller

Chief Tai-Ya-Gansi-Ni "Dragging Canoe", Principal Chief

Another problem is Susan "Sookie" Martin is shown as about 129 years old when she died. Susan "Sookie-Sukey" Martin

Maybe not what you were curious about but many little issues also wrong in this tree.

A mythical tree. None of the people connected to him as parents or children exist.

6/27/2018 at 4:24 AM

He lived in Alabama, in Turkeytown. He did have a wife and children but their names are uncertain.

Well, mythical or not, I cleaned up the age disparity for Susan based on My Heritage references. Up to Erica do remove/delete. So you are saying the link above (https://www.manataka.org/page18.html) is all bogus? May want to at least read it and view the documents. Looks fairly convincing to me but I'm not a "Pro".

100% junk.

Pathkiller was a real person. He was described as an elderly man when he became Principal Chief . His home was in Turkeytown, Alabama.

6/27/2018 at 5:08 AM

So who is Peggy "Peggy" Pathkiller, of Turkeytown and the children attached to her?

6/27/2018 at 5:32 AM

“Chief Pathkiller is presumed to have been married to a full-blood Cherokee woman named Peggy. In the "Records of St. Clair County, Alabama, page 18", it says, "Peggy Pathkiller's settlement of estate, Oct. 31, 1833 was paid to her heirs: $455 to daughter Nancy, $375 to Nelly, $450 to Crying Snake. To Quata and George Cammell, $1,200; to Eustace $300, to Jenny $1188.60; to Qualocoo and Beaver Tail $100 and to Charqahyooca and Richard Rarliff $300."

A presumption (which I know we can't use) would be that Peggy Pathkiller, mother of this Jenny, Jenny Pathkiller

Would very possibly be this Jennie, Jennie Pathkiller

As she named her daughter after her mother. But that is just my opinion, nothing to back it up except some obvious common issues.

This is what I read and it seems credible, however Kathryn believes it isn't fact based, i.e. 100% "junk. I'm in no position to argue either way, just pointing out what I see.

Asking for SNP cousin project to happen. Contacting the descendants.

This is a link to a 600+ page book online... you have to scroll past a lot of empty pages to get to the title http://imfederallyreserved.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/historyof...

It’s a story, not history. The vast majority of Internet posts about the Cherokee are made up stories, not history.

My thought is that Path Killer II is actually the same person as Ocanastota, is that possible ? The narrative seems like they're the same person !

6/27/2018 at 2:17 PM

No. Oconostota died in 1783, Pathkiller in 1827

6/27/2018 at 2:33 PM

(No wonder it looks all messed up).

So at basics:

Path Killer I, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation Was not the Principal Chief after his death

Was Path Killer II the son of Oconostota?

6/27/2018 at 2:42 PM

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oconostota

Looks like pathkiller morphed into him.

6/27/2018 at 3:12 PM
6/27/2018 at 4:50 PM

Pathkiller was not the son of Oconostota.

6/27/2018 at 4:56 PM

There were three other chiefs in between Oconostota and Pathkiller. Chiefs are selected by consensus not by inheritance.

6/27/2018 at 6:31 PM

Currently Pathkiller’s father shows as Kanagatoga "Old Hop"

Any validity or disconnect?

Are the children attached to PathKiller correct now or ... ?

6/27/2018 at 6:35 PM

In the profile: Ancestors: It is generally believed the father of Chief (Colonel) Pathkiller was Chief Kanagagota, Standing Turkey.

6/28/2018 at 5:05 AM

It may be “ generally believed” on the Internet, but not in any document. Old Hop has no documented direct descendants. He had a son named Cappy about whom nothing else is known, and some think that “Granny Hopper” was his daughter.
