The Fray Angelico Chavez chapter of the GSHA congratulates all descendants of Juan Montes Vigil on the Recognition and confirmation of the lineage from Charlemagne to (742-814) to Juan Montes Vigil as described in Dr. Brent Cruz's book "Una Familia Mas Noble y Antigua, A Preliminary Study of the Asturian Ancestry of Capitan Francisco Montes Vigil of New Mexico".

The Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States, a prestigious lineage society, recently recognized and approved the lineage of Juan Montes Vigil as a "gateway ancestor" to Charlemagne and beyond.

Five members of Fray Angelico Chavez Chapter of GSHA are working on an exhibit at Pueblo Heritage Museum. It traces descendants of Francisco Montes Vigil that live in Pueblo, CO. It will be finished today. Stop by and visit museum.

This is really exciting to hear that I am part of a family that has some very important contributions to this Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States. I would love to know more about the exhibit at Pueblo Heritage Museum here in Colorado. May I have the details concerning this, please.

Company Overview
The museum is located in the historic Denver & Rio Grande Freight Station (built in 1924), the museum features exhibits of saddles (Pueblo was once the saddle making capital of the world), railroading, the history of telephones, and Native Americans of the region. Historic photos and artifacts from some of the region's pivotal fugures (including James and Maria Carlile's square grand piano, the first piano brought into Colorado).Changing exhibits illustrate the regions cultural diversity and history. The Freight Station is listed on both the National and State Register of Historic Properites and is also designated a a Local Landmark.

The Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center & Museum is a unique cooperation of local organizations representing Pueblo and the region through our interests in railroading, archaeology, Hispanic genealogy, local history, and the many ethnic heritages that make our community special

Edward Broadhead Research Library: The Pueblo County Historical Society's library is open to the public and provides access to historical documents, material and pictures of Pueblo and Pueblo County. This includes books of the Pueblo Archaeological and Historical Society.

Founding Date
In 2001 initial phases of renovation and restoration of the historic Denver and Rio Grande Western Freight Station were complete and the Pueblo owned building was leased to Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center & Museum.

THE LEGACY TRUNK PROGRAM

The Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center (SCHC) is devoted to celebrating, preserving, & educating the public about the diverse heritage and history of Pueblo and the surrounding area. The hands-on use of historical and contemporary objects provides an engaging forum for learning about the many different cultures that have contributed in the past and continue to contribute to Pueblo's diversity. Currently the Heritage Center has an extensive gallery with over 20 different exhibits covering such diverse subjects as Railroads, Pueblo's immigrant experience, an 1840's trading post, Baseball and Runyon Field, Pueblo as the Saddle Capital of the world, and a unique collection of antique telephones and rural telephone development in Pueblo County. As the Heritage Center continues to grow the exhibit space will be increased. The SCHC has developed the Legacy Trunk Enrichment Program for teachers on exploring heritage in the classroom, which is delivered and presented by Heritage Center volunteers.

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Trunk Program is Free for children/classroom presentation but the program is also available to other groups for presentation for a small fee.

Perfect for Business Meetings and Social Events!

Room Charges which include use of small kitchen:

$120.00 for up to 4 hours including set up and clean up. $30.00 an hour for additional hours.
$150.00 cleaning and security deposit required to confirm booking.

Free WIFI Internet access available during meeting room rental.

We are ADA accessible.

There are a variety of ways the room can be arranged. Eight 60" round tables with 6 chairs per table, comfortably seats 48 people. 64 chairs can be used, plus 8 chairs at head table. Business Meeting format seats 16 to 20 people with writing surface in front of each person. We have several other table and chair arrangements that can meet your specific needs, including 75 chairs in auditorium style. Please check out our website for pictures and more info at:
