I find that the Freisleben's lived in upstate NY, they are listed in the 1850 census as residents of Lumberland, NY.

After researching the patriarch's name which is only initialed as "W", I found that his name was Wilhelm and that he arrived in the US from Oberhöchstadt, Germany in December 1841, on the shores of Baltimore with an intention to Cincinnati. However it seems that he diverted his plans and became a Jewish farmer in Lumberland.

The reason I'm interested in the life of Wilhelm, is the very interesting article that appeared in 1904 in a newspaper in Sullivan County NY.

I'm putting a link to the articles who speak volumes for itself and I can only hope that someone in the family would help figure out the whereabouts of Wilhelms' lonely grave in Lumberland, New York.

@Leopold Friesleben: Aaron Feder, I'm curious how you found the identity of "W" and how you discovered his relationship to Leopold. I have been researching Nathan Friesleben, my third great-grandfather, who I discovered is buried in Lumberland in a solo grave. Nathan, Leopold and Isaac Friesleben each had farms near each other. Nathan was murdered or killed and after that, Leopold and Isaac's families moved to Chicago. Nathan's widow, Rosa Friesleben, went to New York City and later to Oroville CA where her son Daniel Nathan lived. I have been trying to figure out how Nathan, Leopold and Isaac are related. Leopold and Isaac do not appear as Nathan's brothers in the Geni profile (which is based on archives), and Wilhelm was not Nathan's father. Is there a last name for Wilhelm?
