Hubert & Hugh de Port were not the same person (perhaps related).

Erica Howton that is what I thought. Everything you said is what I thought. I just wanted confirmation on it. So according to this our tree needs some work with separating out the two lines I believe Hubert and Hugh were brothers. So can I make the changes needed or does it have to be a curator?

I don’t know that we can say Hubert & Hugh were brothers? That they were related seems likely.

Hubert is curated so we need Pam Wilson (on hiatus) to help figure straighten out the Biography on that: that’s the Adam de Port side & the “Mapledurwell” line.

Try working on the “Basing” line first. I’ll move Adam off of him, you can try adding the Sybil wife.

The way I handle these is to FIRST put the bio & family information in the profile, and an external link, “and then” edit. Be sure and resolve conflicting data.

Frankly we’re almost there with the Basing side.

also I’m going to screenshot the Rounds chart and upload. Unless Keats-Rohan has had more to say lately, it looks like his 1900 reconstruction and The Complete Peerage holds up. DO NOT use Burke’s & in the profiles you could note that Burke’s got it wrong.

It’s either that or they’re different altogether.

Round did not address the French Ancestry in any specific beyond location area. It looks like Keats-Rohan may have, and (I think) she’s affirming Round as son of Hubert, not Hugh.

Also I should note that Round’s chart looks like a dotted line from Hubert to Adam.
