Name on Baptism Jacomyntje no Aletta on baptism or marriage or baptism of children.

Who have been adding the name Aletta everywhere ?

No Aletta no Gerritz as part of her name on actual documents once Jansz.

What are the rules on GENI regarding names on prifiles ?
Name as on a source ?
Name that you like ?

Names ?
Some give her a 2nd name Gerritsz?
WHy is it acceptable to add names that do not appear on any sources on GENI ?
SAG or any other other compilation of transcribed documents too often add extra incorrect information to profiles that are not valid.
Mistakes there then flows like poisonous gas everywhere contaminating real facts and information.

They're not inflexible - but usually
1.you'd defer to the baptismal doc if you had it.
2.Were the person to become well-known by another legal name (eg married surname) on documents, you'd add that.
3. If the name changed (eg by transliteration) for most of their adult lives on documents, then the profile managers tend to come to a decision between themselves as to their preference.

In this case, we have NO docs for Aletta - so removing it is easy.

There are two that Delia Robertson cites on FFYP http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g5/p5306.htm for Gerritz,
9 March 1692, the name of Jacomina was written in the record as Jacomijntie Gerritz van Deventer.1
30 June 1714, the name of Jacomina was written in the record as Jacomyntie Gerritse.6

so I'd put it in the middle name field as a patronymic - bec it's a useful signpost to her father - but if managers hated that, I'd remove it.

The use of Aletta seems to have been a simple error?

I can't face trying to find her name on that baptismal register - do you think there is no Gerritz?

You're welcome to go through all our uploaded docs (we seem to have a decent number) and log exact name usage here.

There could be an interesting debate that the marriage name is the name an adult Jacomina viewed as hers too.

On 1720 marriage document her name is just Jacomyntje van de Venter.
On baptism at the end after names of her parents and getuies her name Jacomyntje.
Was thinking of doing that; write name as on source underneath

Just waiting till 10:30 to get onto computer.
Also Jacomyntje on some baptisms of children .
Will see how many sources we can get .

added comments to sources !
no Gerritsz anywhere !
Jacomynte or Jacomyntie on Baptism 1692 .
Jacomyntjie on marriage 1720.
Then just Jacomina transcribed ( again no Gerritsz ) on death inventory 1737
