Geni is the only website I have found that lists Catherine as the daughter of Captain George Ball and Elizabeth Tunnell. I found the following on Wiki-Tree:
An unusual document in Fairfax County Court, 19th March, 1839 identifies George's children. George's estate inherited an interest in the estate of his brother James and the court was identifying heirs. "Certified that George Ball, late of Russell County, Virginia, died intestate leaving the following children (dates and spouses added):

2. James (b. 1781, m. Nancy Breeding, moved to Lawrence Co., Kentucky)
3. Sally (b. 1783, m. William May)
4. Robert (b. 1786, m. Sarah Wilson), moved to what is now West Virginia)
5. Moses (b. 1788, m. Elizabeth Maynard, moved to Pike Co., Kentucky)
6. William (b. 1791, m. Charlotte May, moved to Whitley Co., Kentucky)
7. Nancy (b. 1793, m. Daniel May, moved to Pike Co., Kentucky)
8. Elizabeth (b. 1795)
9. George Jr (b. 1798, m. Catherine Hess)
