Thomas Bailey Christian - The "Bailey" Part

The first <Bailey> to settle in what would become West Virginia was:

Richard Peyton Bailey

Richard Payton Bailey and Elizabeth Ann Belcher are considered among some of the first settlers of southern West Virginia.

That family had its trials as well, to say the least.

as did the parents, whomever they were, of
Thomas Bailey Christian

I find it interesting to note that the massacres that produced the three orphans (one being TBC) and the Bailey massacre were about the same time.
