Jacob Miller (Jakob Müller), according to family lore, was the son of a fairly wealthy man who was born in Germany but moved to Switzerland to avoid religious persecution. From there he immigrated to America where Jacob was born onboard the ship "The Gestalt" while it was moored in the harbor of Philadelphia, PA.
