Many online family trees show Thomas Blair as Joshua's father; this is impossible given that Thomas Blair was a Scottish immigrant and Y-DNA proves Joshua was of African descent on his paternal line (see below).

DNA

Please join the Gedmatch Ancestor Project entitled "Perkins, Joshua 'Old Jock' and Family DNA"

Y-DNA

Descendants of Joshua Old Jock Perkins who have Y-DNA tested, please join the FTDNA “Driggers Y-DNA Project - Descendants of Emanuel Driggers and Joshua Old Jock Perkins”: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/driggers/about The project includes descendants of Joshua Old Jock Perkins 1732-1801 because they are linked to the Driggers family by Y-DNA.

Please also join the Joshua Old Jock Perkins Facebook Group for regular updates on the Y-DNA project. Here's the status of that project as of 27 Jun 2021:

According to the 1858 Perkins v White trial, Joshua Old Jock Perkins had 5 sons: George, Isaac, Jacob, Joshua, and Lewis. Using Y-700 DNA tests, we have connected sons George, Jacob, Isaac, Joshua, and Lewis to haplogroup E-FT375579 or its subclade E-FT376097. Y-700 test results suggest Joshua's father was likely a descendant of Emanuel Driggers.

The haplogroups mentioned above will only show up on Y-700 DNA tests. Joshua Old Jock Perkins descendants who have taken lower level Y-DNA tests show haplogroup E-M96 or its subclades E-M132 or E-CTS10935.

T-lo Tina Ann Cavitt and Erica Howton, Tina, as I’ve told you elsewhere, Noah Perkins is not descended from Joshua Old Jock Perkins. According to his death certificate, the parents of the Noah Perkins who was married to Augusta Carter were Jacob Perkins and Rhoda Sullivan. He is also listed with Jacob and Rhoda in the 1880 federal census for Mayfield, Graves County, Kentucky.

James Monroe Perkins and his wife, who you list as Noah's parents, did not have a son named Noah.

This Noah's pedigree on his Perkins line is:
Noah Perkins 1872-1944, son of Jacob Person Perkins 27 Oct 1827-12 Dec 1910, son of Ebenezer “Eben” Perkins about 1792-about 1850, son of Jacob Perkins 7 Apr 1746-after 1821, son of Wright Perkins after 1700-bef 24 Apr 1750, son of Isaac Perkins (born 18 Oct 1671 Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire, died 1746 Kent County, Maryland)

Other researchers have extended Noah’s pedigree beyond the research I’ve done - since this isn’t my family line, I haven’t researched beyond the Isaac Perkins born 1671. See, for example, https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/4434176/family?cfpid=4222...

This Noah is not related to, or descended from, Joshua Perkins of Accomack County, Virginia, who was nicknamed Old Jock in an 1858 Tennessee trial.

Here is his death certificate: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/1222/images/KYVR_7...

Here is the relevant 1880 census: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/6742/images/424116...

Here is Noah on Findagrave: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/19644289/noah-perkins

Also, here is the 1880 census for James Monroe Perkins (please note he does not have a son named Noah): https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/6742/images/424219...

T-lo Tina Ann Cavitt - I’ve gone through your Perkins line, if that’s OK, and find it tracks back to Isaac Perkins of Ipswich who arrived in America in the Great Puritan Migration to New England.

Tina Ann Cavitt is Isaac Perkins of Ipswich's 10th great granddaughter.

https://www.geni.com/path/Isaac-Perkins-of-Ipswich+is+related+to+Tina-Cavitt?from=6000000024391253074&path_type=blood&to=6000000087599484067

(The Geni tree does extend further back in England but I haven’t checked it).

In the next post I’ll show you a couple of documents about Noah Perkins.

Oh my

“ Isaac Perkins is likely a tenth generation descendant of Pierre de Morlaix (aka Peter Morley alias Perkins), of Shropshire, England. Pierre/Peter was living in 1371, and was the bailiff (manager) of the estates belonging to Lord Hugh Despencer of the Manor of Shipton in Oxfordshire. Isaac's line of descent may be as follows: Thomas, Henry, Thomas, William, Thomas, William, John, Henry, Peter Morley alias Perkins.[2]”

Again, did not check it)

So the point of confusion was Noah Perkins

Here’s the death certificate Laurie mentioned:

On the findagrave pages for https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/19644467/jacob-person-perkins & his wife https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/19644477/rhoda-perkins, I see:

3rd gr grandma

Left by Tina *Cain* Cavitt on 10 Sep 2018

Isn’t that you?

As mentioned, James Monroe Perkins did not have a son Noah. James was the son of Amos Perkins son of Jacob Perkins, Sr. son of Joshua “Old Jock” Perkins

The line needs more detailing for locations. That will be my next step.

Tina, your Perkins is an interesting migration. From Ipswich MA (Indian massacre) > New Hampshire 1st settlers > New Jersey > Maryland > Kentucky.

Yeah I found the wrights and another Washington line off of this line :) I think I had accidently had Joshua Old Jock listed when it was supposed to be the other guy from Maryland on my ancestry hehe oopsie
