This is driving me NUTS!:
Theodorick Bland (February 1663–November 1700), was the oldest son of Theodorick Bland of Westover and Anne Bennett, the daughter of Governor Richard Bennett.
His brothers were Richard Bland (who had many notable descendants) and John Bland (who was the great-grandfather of Chancellor Theodorick Bland Judge Theodorick Bland).
Bland married Margaret Man Margaret Bland (Man) and had two sons

-----------------------
I cannot get the relationship for John Bland and Judge Theodorick Bland

It comes out second great nephew.
Wikipedia says great grandson

but they had a spouse wrong in the line... (see Discussion elsewhere for that one)

The family groups are NOT filled in completely.
Please help if you can.
Thank you.

Wikipedia has a consistency error. Definitely need to find more sources http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodorick_Bland_of_Cawsons says his father was Richard and not John.

And findagrave does not have the Judge attached to this profile as his son. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7460/theodorick-bland

The Judge's profile has absolutely no relationships at all attached https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/14278797/theodorick-bland

9/14/2022 at 10:30 PM

His bio at the FJC says nothing about his heritage. https://www.fjc.gov/history/judges/bland-theodorick

Again says son of Richard https://encyclopediavirginia.org/entries/bland-richard-1710-1776/

I think that wiki you sighted is wrong. If two places on wiki contradict each other, one has to be wrong. I think the one you puzzle over is wrong.

Wait!!! Now I am totally confused. Arg! This Randolph/Bland/Carter area of the tree is so confusing

9/14/2022 at 10:44 PM

Okay this states his parents https://www.eapoe.org/people/blandthe.htm

Edgar Allen Poe.... He came up the other day for me... So strange

The Bland Papers has the lineage. I just got to figure it out
"The Bland papers : being a selection from the manuscripts of Colonel Theodorick Bland, jr. ; to which are prefixed an introduction, and a memoir of Colonel Bland" https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/221985-the-...=

Here is another source for that family https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/179112?availability=Fam...

A vision of unity : the Bland family in England and America, 1555-1900

compiled by the family

Well I didn't solve it for you but ran into a bunch of other issues on the tree and now my mind frame is blown on this one and will have to come back to it. Tiny bit size pieces is all I can take on this large huge family. At least it is heavily documented so just gotta hunt for it.

(Born: December 6, 1776 – Died: November 16, 1846)

American lawyer, Maryland State Delegate, and federal judge for the state of Maryland. He was born in Dinwiddie County, VA, the son of Colonel Theodorick Bland (1741-1790) and Sarah Fitzhugh (1748–1793). Around 1800, he moved to Baltimore city. He bought a large estate called La Grange in Howard County about 1828, and renamed it Blandair, the name by which it is still known today. He died at his home in Annapolis, from unspecified heart disease.
is correct.

Problem is one of the Wikipedia pages has a wrong wife listed for one in the line-- I made a Discussion/note somewhere...- and the Wikipedia has a link for Theodorick and brother Richard but not for John who is the grandson relationship to the Chancellor/Judge.

The Wikipedia page for Congressman Theodorick Bland, Jr. (1741/1742) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodorick_Bland_%28congressman%29 is the one with the wrong wife showing on Wikipedia so it puts everything else in doubt but whenever I see a relationship mentioned, I can usually pushpin it unless the tree is incomplete for the path

They are a family of patriots but I only see one Theodorick Bland on the DAR and did add info last night.

Will look for the missing link or discover Wikipedia's error if it is wrong but I want to believe the relationship they state is correct and I am just having trouble connecting it on Geni.
May need to work on it on paper the good old fashioned way
:)

For the Congressman, Congressman Theodorick Bland, Jr. , there is a marriage record for him and Sarah Bland and the Wikipedia page states he married Martha Bland but the side bar has one wife Elizabeth Randolph. (Obvious error.)
The problem is with this profile:
John Bland

The puzzle to assemble starts with Theodorick Bland, Jr. Theodorick 1663 the surveyor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodorick_Bland_%28surveyor%29 which says:
Theodorick Bland (February 1663 – November 1700)[1] made a survey in 1693 of the Howson Patent, which is an area corresponding to present day Alexandria, Virginia.[2] He also made a survey for Williamsburg, Virginia in 1699.[3][4][5]

Bland was the oldest son of Theodorick Bland of Westover and Anna Bennett, the daughter of Governor Richard Bennett.[1][6] His brothers were Richard Bland (who had many notable descendants) and John Bland (who was the great-grandfather of Chancellor Theodorick Bland).[1][6] Bland married Margaret Man and had two sons:[1]

John Bland (born December 8, 1698); he married Ann West and had at least three children, John, Theodorick, and Mary.[1]
Theodorick Bland, who died shortly after his father.[1]
When his father died in 1671, Bland inherited Westover Plantation and joined with his brother, Richard, in its ownership.[7] The brothers eventually conveyed 1,200 acres of the property to William Byrd I in 1688 for 300L and 10,000 pounds of tobacco and cask.[7] Byrd's grandson built a Georgian mansion there in the 1750s.

Carissa Hill EXCELLENT!
Got Ann West vs Ann Buck situated with their respective husbands named John Bland.
Sent corrections to the FAG memorial managers.
Disconnected children not named and we can add those all back later once sourced.
Looking better already.

John Bland is better.

The quote: Theodorick Bland, who died shortly after his father.[1]
from Wikipedia is misleading perhaps as it is for the son of Margaret (Man?) and Theodorick 1663 but looks like should be son of John 1698.
Yikes.
Moving on...

Looking for sources for Ursula Brand and Frances Bland

Solved:
https://www.geni.com/path/Richard-Bland-of-Jordan-s-Point+is+relate...
Richard NOT brother John is the great grandfather of the Judge.
Wikipedia has that comment in the wrong place.

FIXED the Wikipedia bio and await the corrections at FindaGrave.
