[Mumford Stevens Mumford Stephens];

[Elizabeth Bledsoe Elizabeth Bledsoe] was born 1700, found the Parish birth record, and married Charles Stevens 10 May 1720 in Abingdon Parish,- She only had two of his children

She was not too young to marry or have children. We know after Charles death, she married Capt. William Bledsoe.

Need a curator to unlock her profile so we can update it, then we can lock up again.

Moved Martha Stephens to 1st wife & William Stephens to second wife.

Elizabeth Bledsoe is unlocked now also.

Y DNA conflict!

He cannot be both DNA Markers: R1b1a2 I2a2

R1b1a2 propogated from tester Private

I2a2 from tester Private

https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Stephens-Stevens/default.aspx?... Shows John Stevens of Abington Parish in the teal group, R1b-M269.

So there may be a mistake in Earl Benjamin Stephens pedigree. He gets his Y DNA from Private & descends from Charles Stevens via Benjamin Stephens

And here’s our problem:

Benjamin Stephens

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=96467884

Birth: Apr. 15, 1754 Orange Orange County Virginia, USA Death: Sep. 7, 1839 Kenton County Kentucky, USA

The lineage of Benjamin Stephens is shrouded in mystery. His mother was Blessing Stephens, daughter of William & Sarah Stephens of Orange county, Virginia. Her father died there in 1767. Blessing became the second wife of Stephen Smith on July 4, 1773 when Benjamin was 19. Court documents show that Smith & his two brothers were also known by the last name of Noblet. The day before their marriage Blessing & Stephen entered into a more or less equal contract where in each agreed to respect one another's property and to manage and dispose of it as each saw fit. Stephen Smith was 58 and Blessing was about 20 years younger than he. Many efforts have been made to determine Smith's exact relation to Benjamin Stephens. None have been successful. Speculation is not helpful.

John Stephens Is not the son of Blessing Smith I don’t know who his parents are.

[Benjamin Stephens Benjamin Stephens] disconnected from [Blessing Smith Blessing Smith] & her son [Benjamin Stephens Benjamin Stephens]

The Y DNA issue is solved for now.

Erica Howton can you attach Mary Rowe Powell to Elizabeth Bledsoe as her child? It got wiped with the merge

https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=84061190070

there are several children with only a father

Done.

Tips for PROs.

  • make an extra wife at the husband; at the prompt, should this be a parent of (children), yes. Then merge to existing MP. (this is the technique I used in this case)
  • or - select correct parent pair in the relationships drop down box of the child
  • or - merge in tree view (unknown mother > MP)

Erica Howton made a duplicate of Elizabeth Mumford because she did not show in the drop down with husband-- only Ann showed. So I made the dup and a merge request but when she was merged, the children dropped off because of the lock. I can oftentimes go around a lock but not when one parent is relationship locked. This may be different from what was previously the case?

sorry---- I made a duplicate... of Elizabeth Mumford because ...

Yes, my trick won’t work if there’s a lock. I’m not sure why the relationship drop box didn’t work, though.
