Disputed relationships

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Powell-111

Not the father of John Powell yDNA results from a known descendant of are in the R-M269 haplogroup, different from the haplogroup of the known descendants of John Powell, of Culpeper County & Ann Pickett of Culpeper, VA, who are in haplogroup T-M70.

If John Powell is T-M70, then he cannot have been the son of Honorias Powell, Sr. & Joyce Powell A descendant has uploaded Y DNA with a result of R1b1a2a1a1b.

Note:

Wikitree contradicts itself at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Powell-1293, which shows haplogroup R-BY12150

I don’t see any of them at the Powell Surname DNA Project

Another note:

No will for Honorias Powell, Sr. has ever been found. His probate record names widow Mary and son William only.

He named son Honorias, would he do that if unrelated?

So possibly

NPE (non paternal event - step son to Honorias?)
The haplogroup report is wrong
NPE further down the tree

Honorias Powell, Sr. is your 10th great uncle's first cousin.

Erica Howton thank you
Soooo interesting Honoria female has Honorias male descendants.
I will revisit.

Re: Soooo interesting Honoria female has Honorias male descendants.

Yes, that caught my eye also. I don’t recall any other Colonial Virginia family honoring a matriarch that way.

I’m re attaching John as son of Honorias. There isn’t enough information about the Y DNA discrepancy for me to be sure it occurs at this generation.

I will check tomorrow if he is in the Germanna database

My Y-DNA Powell cousins who descend from Thomas Powell and Mary Place are R-M269. Perhaps Wiki-Tree's T-M70 for this famly is incorrect.

Not in the Germanna database. Several John but all born in 1800'2 and no Honor or varied spellings of the name
