This is a bit of a puzzle. Freeman married Dora Comer in 1925. That is indisputable. I have not (yet) found any record of a divorce, and Dora is seen in the local newspapers through the end of her life in 1999 going by Mrs. Dora Songer. Yet there is a record in the West Virginia State Archives of a Freeman Joseph Songer marrying Mary Elizabeth Law in 1958. Was he a bigamist? There is also a record in the Charleston Gazette of Freeman and Dora selling property in either 1956 or 1958 (microfilm is not clear). Were they divorcing? Mary's daughter is claimed in his obituary, so it isn't a different man by the same name.
