Anecdotally there is said to be a connection, and there's a bit of a legend of a 3 way split (location wise) at some point. At the moment they are spread from Dubrovnik (where some were wool spinners in the 15th century) to Pula and concentrated in Korcula - Hvar (Diocese, not necessarily physical Hvar) and Drvenik (Makarska). I have drawn up lines from the 16th century from Hvar records, yet to match through to 18th (there's a 100 year vague patch commencing with the sack of Drvenik), found 2 priests discovered a few open secrets and would like to start a name based project. We have some male DNA (mine only goes so far) in the pipeline.
