I thought the whole purpose of a family tree is to follow your family roots back as far as you can go. What is the point of only close relations? and are we only doing the living relations or the history of our ancestors. I think if you dont want people adding to it you can make your settings private or blocked. Im not sure - a curator maybe able to advised. Seems pointless to me - i want all my cousins on my tree and partners.
Is this a discussion or complaint.
If a discussion, you need to be much more specific with what you want to have us look into.
If a complaint, you’re not speaking with anyone here who can help you - I’d begin by reaching out to a curator.
I’d also remind you this is a world family tree, not a hosting platform for your personal family tree - though it does also help with that - if you want an un changeable family tree where distant relatives won’t interact with you, you’re on the wrong site.
Hey y’all,
Im the “Mary” to whom he addressed his message. I don’t even know who “he” is; unless, it’s Kenneth Allen Firby. I do not recognize the name Kenneth Allen Firby but I do recognize the name Jami Laitinen because Geni called him to my attention. In response to a Geni email telling me I was related to JL, I curiously looked. He is my 28th cousin 2x removed, he is from Finland, and Kings and Queens were mentioned; so I simply followed. BTW, Edward of Windsor, Edward, III, King of England is my 19th GGF. I’m jesting went I say that, but it show how trivial some people can be. My being 28th2x cousin to Mr. Laitinen’s or Mr. Firby’s cannot possibly destroy their tree.
Please Mr. Firby, accept my apology. I was pleased to find a distance relative from Finland. I doubt I’ll add him to my tree. But I’m more most proud to say my DNA shows I’m 1% Native American.

This is a Public Discussion. Everybody in the whole wide world can read it, everybody logged in to Geni can comment.
You are part of the World Tree on Geni.
All Public Profiles on the World Tree can be edited by everyone, logged into Geni.
All Private Profiles that you manage can be edited by everyone in your Family Group and the Profile's Max Family, and if it has any other managers, it can be edited by them and everyone in their Family Group.
The goal is that there will be one - and only one - Profile for every person that has ever lived, including everyone alive now.
I clearly addressed only one person who has been following the edits on someone else regarding my close relatives. This can lead to a transparent discussion for all three. To whomever complaining about their own participation when not addressed or invited...just because you see something talked about in your presence, doesn't necessarily mean you must interject. I don't involve myself in others' situations merely because of happening to be aware of them, if I'm not personally involved. On the other hand, this kind of problem here serves as a warning on what not to do, which would be an easier object lesson to learn if certain people here weren't so thick, thereby detracting from resolution through ignorant, irrelevant and inflammatory comments.
There are absolutely no Profiles listed as "Profiles Mentioned" and none appear tagged - yet apparently folks following Jani Laitinen received notifications about this Public Discussion.
I am guessing that is because the Poster is in Jani Laitinen's Family Group and started a Public Discussion from Jani's Discussion Tab - which required changing the default from "Only My Family Group" to Public Discussion
If a Profile is not a Geni User, and a discussion is started from its Discussion Tab, it is automatically listed under Profiles Mentioned.
I had not realized this is what happens if you start a Public Discussion from a Geni User's Discussion Tab.

I’d actually like to re merge Archie & his wife Joyce Elaine Firby but remove the English children who don’t belong.
Then I’d like you to X off John Christian Wood as their manager, as it’s not his family.
Private User - honestly? Whilst I applaud more info and “yell” all the time at empty profiles, that wasn’t the problem here.
The problem was with someone else adding really bone headed parents and then someone else idiotically copying it.
Oops.
