Catherine Eddins & Abraham T. Eddins

"Abraham Eddins b 06/01/1724, probably Spotsylvania Co VA; d 11/30/1801 (dates taken from a webset, so beware. I believe they came from the bible of his son William Eddins), son, IT IS SAID, of William Eddins and Rebecca Haw (I have no proof of that). Married ≈1745, Catherine Towles (daughter of Stokely Towles + Ann Valloitt) ... b 07/05/1721 in Middlesex Co VA and d before 1790. Issue:

  1. "i. Frances Eddins, b ≈1747, m. William Kilby ≈1765 in Culpeper Co VA, moved to Wilkes Co NC in 1776 and died there ≈1833.
  2. "ii. Ann Eddins b. ≈1749 in Culpeper Co VA, m. Nathaniel Burdine ≈1770. Moved to Abbeville District SC via Wilkes Co NC.
  3. "iii. Joseph Eddins of whom I have little other data--may have remained in Culpeper Co VA.
  4. "iv. Mary Eddins b 07/01/1754 in Culpeper Co VA; died probably in SC, but possibly GA or MS. Married Samuel Burdine and moved first to Wilkes Co NC and thence to SC.
  5. "v. Lucy Eddins, b ≈1756 in Culpeper Co VA, m. Thomas Johnson in Wilkes Co NC, bond dated 12/05/1780.
  6. "vi. William Eddins, b 04/21/1758 in Culpeper Co VA, d 03/03/1841 in Wilson Co TN. Married, in Wilkes Co NC, to Rebecca Chandler (b. 02/19/1765 in Henry Co VA; d. unk.), daughter of Robert Bailey and Partheny Chandler Bailey, bond dated 08/24/1784.
  7. "vii. Judith Eddins, b ≈1760 in Culpeper Co VA, m. in Wilkes Co NC, to Elisha Reynolds, bond dated 08/05/1786.
  8. "viii. Sarah Eddins, b ≈1762 in Culpeper Co VA, m. in Wilkes Co NC to Josiah Chandler, (brother of Rebecca, above) bond dated 08/21/1784. Sarah died in 1848, Wilson Co TN.

"As Abraham's wife was named Catherine in their deeds as late as the late 1770s, I believe Catherine Towles was the mother of all of these children. The wife named 'Sarah' in Abraham's LW&T (the one accused of wasting the estate) is more than likely a second wife ...";
