I have some information for people creating Polish profiles in Geni. Many Polish names can be modified according to woman status. For example Sapieha wife can be called Sapieżyna, and his daughter – Sapieżanka. Radziwiłł wife can be called Radziwiłłowa, and his daughter – Radziwiłłówna. If you put such name modifications to Geni, in the case of merging some problems will arrive. Now I want to merge 2 profiles of a person which has 2 mothers - Denhoff and Dehoffówna, and the system blocks itself. So please, in the case of women – it is much better, if you use their unmodified fathers name. Accepted case is a fathers name which ends with –ski. For example Poniatowski or Skłodowski. His wife is Skłodowska, and his daughter is also Skłodowska. But if this is a name like: Mickiewicz, Wojtyła, Miłosz, Tusk, Radziwiłł, Sapieha etc., please do not change at all. Regards. Going further, Geni could apply a technical modification so that for Polish last names ending with "-ski" and "-ska", or "-cki" and "-cka", or whatever (i.e. regardless of gender), to be considered as identical for statistical purposes. It is somehow irritating that e.g. my last name and its female version are regarded as completely separate.
