EDFLEDA (-bur Wilton Abbey, Wiltshire[1654]).
William of Malmesbury names (in order) "Edfleda, Edgiva, Ethelhilda, Ethilda, Edgitha, Elfgiva" as the six daughters of King Eadweard & his wife "Elfleda", specifying that Edfleda became a nun[1655].
A manuscript which recounts the founding of Wilton Monastery, records that “rex Alrudus” (referring to Alfred King of Wessex) installed “Elfledæ infantis, et filiæ principis Edwardi senioris” at Wilton abbey[1656]. It is not known whether this refers to King Eadweard´s daughter Edfleda, but in any case the report must be anachronistic considering the date of death of King Alfred and the likely dates of birth of King Eadweard´s children. Nun, maybe at Winchester[1657].
