Sultan <a title="Abdülaziz" href="https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd%C3%BClaziz">Abdülaziz</a>'in 4. oğludur. Annesi <a class="mw-redirect" title="Neşerek Kadın Efendi" href="https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ne%C5%9Ferek_Kad%C4%B1n_Efendi">Neşerek Kadın Efendi</a>'dir. 3 Nisan 1890'da Fatma Rûy-i Nâz Hanım Efendi ile evlendi. Bu evlilikten Şehzade <a title="Mehmed Cemaleddin Efendi" href="https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehmed_Cemaleddin_Efendi">Mehmed Cemaleddin Efendi</a> doğdu. <a class="new" title="Türk Musikisi (sayfa mevcut değil)" href="https://tr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=T%C3%BCrk_Musikisi&actio...">Türk Musikisi</a> ile uğraşmıştır. Sultan Abdülaziz'in erkek nesli, günümüze Şevket Efendi yoluyla gelmiştir. Mezarı <a class="mw-redirect" title="II. Mahmut Türbesi" href="https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/II._Mahmut_T%C3%BCrbesi">II.
