About Sunchaley of Cherkessia

In 1603, Prince Sunchaly Kanklychevich Cherkassky with his bridles arrived in Moscow, where he was received by Tsar Boris Fedorovich Godunov . Sunchaly was received by the king with great honors in the Faceted Chamber. Boris Godunov accepted his petition and allowed Prince Sunchaley Cherkasskou to live in the Tersk fortress . Thus, Sunchalei Cherkassky with his subjects and vassals moved from Kabarda to Terki .

In 1615, Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich granted the Russian princely title of Sunchalei Kanklychevich Cherkassky, who became the prince of “Terek Cherkas and the entire non-Russian population”. Sunchaly Cherkassky was appointed prince over the townspeople ( Chechens and Ingush ) and Cherkasy ( Kabardins ) who lived near the Terskaya fortress . Later, the princely power of Sunchalei Cherkassky was extended to the Cossacks living in Terki .

In the years 1614 - 1615, with the direct participation of Prince Sunchaley Cherkassky, many rulers of Kabarda , Dagestan and other mountain peoples established relations with the Russian kingdom and reaffirmed their alliance with Moscow with the "coat" accepted at that time, that is, the oath. The oath of allegiance to the Russian Tsar was brought by the Kabardian princes Dzhilyakhstanov and Talostanov, and behind them the prince of Great Kabarda Kazy Psheapshokov (Kaitukin).

In 1619, the supreme prince of Great Kabarda Aleguko Shogenukov , nephew and successor of Kaziy Psheapshokov, arrived in Terki and took an oath of allegiance to the Russian Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich . Sunchaly Cherkassky conducted lengthy negotiations with him about this. In addition, Sunchaly Cherkassky married his eldest son Sholokh to Parhan Shogenukovna, sister of Aleguko .

In 1624, Prince Sunchaley Kanklychevich Cherkassky died. After his death, “the princedom over the non-Russian population of the Tersky fortress ” was inherited in 1625 by his eldest son Sholokh Sunchaleevich Cherkassky ( 1625 - 1636 ).
