About Oliver Brown

Oliver Brown was the youngest son of John Brown to reach adulthood. He was born in Franklin, Ohio on March 9, 1839, and married Martha E. Brewster in 1858. Oliver went to Kansas in 1855 with his father and took part in the Pottawatomie Massacre in which five pro-slavery settlers were hacked to death in Kansas in 1856.

Oliver returned to North Elba, New York in October 1856. He was killed during the raid on Harper's Ferry.
