Charles Rodolph Trefusis, 19th Lord Clinton was educated between 1806 and 1809 at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 12 March 1810. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Callington between 1813 and 1818. He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1814 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He graduated from Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1817 with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He was Commissioner of Excise between 1819 and 1833. He succeeded to the title of 19th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] in October 1832.
