David Boyle, 1st Earl of Glasgow was born in 1666.3

He was the son of John Boyle of Kelburn and Marion Steuart.2 

He married, firstly, Margaret Lindsay-Crawford, daughter of Hon. Patrick Crawford and Margaret Crawfurd, on 19 April 1687.2

He married, secondly, Jean Mure, daughter of William Mure, on 16 June 1697.2 He died on 31 October 1733.2

    David Boyle, 1st Earl of Glasgow was educated at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bute between 1689 and 1689.2 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1697.2 He was created 1st Lord Boyle, of Kelburn, Stewartoun, Finnick, Largs and Dalry [Scotland] on 31 January 1698/99, with a special remainder to all of his heirs male whatsoever.1 He was created 1st Lord Boyle, of Stewartoun, Cumbraes, Fenwick, Largs and Dalry [Scotland] on 12 April 1703, with a special remainder to all of his heirs male whatsoever.1 He was created 1st Earl of Glasgow [Scotland] on 12 April 1703, with a special remainder to all of his heirs male whatsoever.1 He was created 1st Viscount of Kelburn [Scotland] on 12 April 1703, with a special remainder to all of his heirs male whatsoever.1 He was Commissioner for the Union of England and Scotland in 1707.2 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1707 and 1710.2 He lived at Kelburn, Ayrshire, Scotland.1
