About the photo of the oil painting -
Professor Franz Kienmayer - Portrait Emmy Göring Oil on canvas One of the 3 large known portraits of Emmy Göring, born Sonnemann, the wife of Hermann Göring. This painting was created by the well-known military painter and portraitist o Hermann Görings, professor Franz Kienmayer.
According to the previous owner, this painting hung until 2018 and the death of Edda Göring, the only daughter of Hermann Göring, in her Munich apartment and formerly in Göring's Berlin apartment on Kaiserdamm 34. This painting is said to have been hung in Göring's apartment at Kaiserdamm 34 as well as briefly in Carinhall, Göring's country residence in the Schorfheide in the north of Berlin.
Emmy Göring née Sonnemann was born on 24 March 1893 in Hamburg. She had her first engagement at the Hamburg Stadttheater at the age of 17, then her way led her via Munich, Vienna and Stuttgart to Weimar. There, without having shown any particular evidence of above-average stage talent, she made the acquaintance of the then Prussian Prime Minister Hermann Göring. In the autumn of 1934, he awarded her the title of Prussian state actress thanks to his power and brought her to Berlin. As a result, she also temporarily appeared in film and played the role of Ms. Hedwig in the movie "Wilhelm Tell". But only a few months later she said goodbye to the theatre in a festive performance of Lessing's "Minna von Barnhelm" arranged by Göring, and married Göring on 10 April 1935, who now gave her the role of "first lady" of the "Third Reich" with the address "High Woman".
The wedding of Hermann and Emmy Göring was celebrated with great pomp on 10 April 1935. The couple received the yacht Carin II in 1937 as a gift from the German automotive industry. The birth of daughter Edda, who Emmy Göring gave birth to at the age of 45 on 2 June 1938, was staged propagandistically.
Emmy Göring and her husband led a pompous life in the style of an aristocratic family on the Estate Carinhall in the Schorfheide. Emmy Göring acted as "High Woman" of the German Reich, often in competition with Magda Goebbels, because Adolf Hitler was unmarried. Emmy Göring did not play a significant role in politics.
