In the science of names, or Onamastics, Surts in the Nordic translates into the Queen of the Sirens, Circe. Now we all know that she really didn't exist as the legends paint her, but she must have been a real figure to start the family line of "datters" (daughters).

It is also unlikely that she was a giantess capable of looking over trees by standing up.

Her mother is believed to be a real person from the Georgian Colchis region.

Mythology even assigns her Hecate, the Goddess of Witchcraft, but this is again mythology.
