Frederick, 2nd Earl of Birkenhead, was the son of Frederick Edwin Smith, 1st Earl of Birkenhead and Margaret Eleanor Furneaux. Education - see schools-this profile.

He succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl of Birkenhead on 30th. Sept.1930and the title, 2nd Viscount Furneaux of Charlton, Co. Northampton, on the same date:;also the title of 2nd. Viscount Birkenhead, and 2nd Baron Birkenhead of Birkenhead, and 2nd. Baronet Smith.

He wrote the following books------

Frederick Edwin, The First Earl of Birkenhead, The First Phase---published 1933 and

Frederick Edwin, The First Earl of Birkenhead, The Last Phase---published 1935,and

Strafford--published 1938.

He was Parliamentary Private Secretary to The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in 1938.

He was Lord-in-Waiting to HM, King George V1 in 1938.

He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1938 in the service of the 10th (Worcestershire and Oxfordshire Yeomanry) Field Brigade, Royal Artillery.(Territorial Army)
